For This is one of just two ways to get an automatic gearbox in the 6, and Sport trim brings a whole host of luxury features.

Against This is also the most expensive way into an automatic 6, and choosing this rather than a manual gearbox means higher emissions - and higher tax bills for company car drivers.

There aren't many ways to get an automatic 6, so this may be tempting to some buyers. However, we reckon the TS-trimmed version is better value.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

The Mazda 6 is a very appealing family car choice. Although it's not quite as refined or classy as a Ford Mondeo, most versions are significantly cheaper, and few rivals can match the Mazda 6 for style or long-term reliability.

We reckon the cheaper models are the pick of the range - they supply plenty of kit and power, but keep ownership costs incredibly low.

Venture higher up the range and you get plenty of kit, but you lose out on the Mazda 6's value-for-money appeal, and the 2.5-litre petrol engine has a bit of a thirst.

Some of the interior trim is rather hard and plasticky, but this is a well-built car and our reliability and customer satisfaction surveys suggest that owners are a happy bunch and unlikely to be troubled by many reliability worries.
