Ive had my 2.0D for nearly 2 years now and it has been a great car. I have Covered over 30,000 miles in it, but recently it has a bad stutter just under 2,000 revs. Its been to the dealer a couple of times now to have the ECU reprogramed but this hasn't solved the problem. It went back in today and the dealer keeps saying theres no fault on the car and it must be me. It's a shame as it putting me more and more off the car. Mazda please find a cure!!!
I have just sold my Mazda 6, very much enjoyed the excellent spec, great looks and solid and stable ride. However the seats have given me backache in my lower back and the fuel economy rarely rose above 43mpg, even when i drove really carefully. The cabin seemed well put together but a little plasticky in places. Fantastic size boot and lots of space for the family. Overall, not a bad car, great value, but it had to go through comfort being compromised as i do quite alot of miles.
I bought a 2009 Mazda 6 2.2D sport, nothing but problems the car has been of the road for a month out of 4 months electric problems the worst car I have ever bought with very poor dealer support, great until there is a problem, the car has only covered 1,300 miles and is 5 months old.
Great car until you have a problem, then it must rate as one of the worst.
Have had one as a company car for 3 months. Looked at at many models including all the usual compact exec suspects but kept coming back to the Mazda. It looks better than anything out there for a start, and on this model at least has an amazing list of standard spec than should make all German manufacturers hang their heads in shame. This is all well and good but what's it like to drive? Fantastic to be honest, It's a big car but does not feel it. Handles superbly and the 182bhp diesel engine is fast and smooth.
So how do Mazda do it? Well the interior trim is not as good as most but is still pretty good and the night time illumination looks great. Refinemnent is good but not up there with the best. The ride is firm but not uncomfortable. In all other respects this is as good as any car under £30,000 for sale in the UK and yet only costs around £22,000. And remember this includes xenon headlights, an awesome Bose stereo with sub woofer, part leather, heated seats and a rear vehicle radar system which monitors your blind spot on motorways and warns you not to pull out.
The badge will put people off but heh I think I am old and wise enough to rise above that. If you are in the market for a large family car or compact exec ( especially the A4....a bling overated stodgy handling thing) test drive one and you will be smitten.
