I bought this car 20 months ago purely on its dramatic looks. I chose the lowest powered engine as I'm not interested in performance but want style and luxury. However, it I find it surprisingly fast, a great cruiser on long journeys - it's so comfortable especially with the optional comfort seats. It has all the equipment I need and the so many safety features which are reassuring.
Every time I drive it, I have a smile on my face. What more can you ask for?
Why do journalists complain about rear space? It's a coupe.
I am mean and tight so I think my overall 34mpg is poor. Mpg is good in town but less good on long runs probably because of the big car / small engine combination.
Having owned 3 and 5 series BMWs for the last 10 years I thought they were unbeatable till a persistent engine fault and lack of customer care from the dealer and BMW made me decide to look elsewhere. After test driving various cars I was blown away by the looks and performance of the Merc. Having owned the car for over a month and covered 1400 miles the car is still growing on me I enjoy every journey, the engine and auto box are first class with seamless changes and power by the bucket load. Road holding is excellent the car handles everything you throw at it with ease. The car runs on 18” standard tyres not run flats which makes a big difference compared with my previous BMWs. Considering the engine is still running in I achieve an average of 38mpg close to the manufacturers claimed results. The only extra I added was Satnav all the toys I wanted are standard aircon, bluetooth, ipod connectivity, heated leather and auto everything else, the sports seats are very comfortable and adjust every way so its easy to get comfortable, the cabin fit and finish is first class the aluminium detailing is excellent The boot is pretty shallow even for a coupe but the rear seats are split folding (as standard) which gives reasonable practicality. So far the only thing I don’t like about the car is the combined indicator/ wiper switch which takes a bit of getting used to but considering that I have a smile on my face every time I drive the car it’s a small price to pay.
I've had this car since Nov 2010 and I've now done…
