For The Morgan 3 Wheeler is about the most fun you can have on wheels. The sensation of speed it gives will have you in fits, as will the skittish, edgy handling. It’s reasonably affordable, too.
Against This is a vehicle that you’ll only be using on sunny Sunday afternoons, and when it’s this loud and uncomfortable, you wouldn’t want to use it any more than that. Equipment is in very short supply.
A vehicle for a very specific purpose – putting a smile on your face at the weekend. In that role, not much else gets close to it. Extremely compromised in every other way, though.
The Morgan 3 Wheeler is designed for one specific purpose; putting a smile on your face of a sunny Sunday afternoon. In that role, there are very few cars that can get anywhere near it.
It’s very quick in its own right thanks to the torquey motorcycle engine, but the real beauty is that you feel like you’re going way faster than you actually are. That’s down to the immense noise and vibration from the engine and side-mounted exhausts, and the wind bashing you in the face (there’s no roof or windscreen). The skittish, edgy handling, combined with steering that’s bristling with feel, also ensures that your grin will never subside.
It’s a different story if you try and use the 3 Wheeler for anything else, though – it’s hopelessly compromised in every other area. That said, the same is true of many other cars designed to be used as weekend toys, and many of them cost a lot more than the Morgan.
