I bought my 107 new in March 08. I use it to get to work using country roads 35 miles a day. With 1 person in the car it goes ok, need to be careful overtaking as my other car is a 1.8 focus. Nothing exceptional about the car but I was only after an economical basic car.
The one problem i have had is the clutch failed after only 21,000 miles and under 3 years old. I thought it would be in warranty but I found out the clutch is a wear part like the brakes and tyres, so it cost me £600. I complained to Peugeot but they just confirmed it was excluded from warranty. So it has now become a very expensive car to run.
In forty years of driving cars of all ages keeping some cars for 6 or 7years (i did 90,000 in a 106) and had no clutch problems.
I have just had a 107 as a hire car from Enetrprise. I was truly amazed at how good it was. We went out as a family of three to the garden centre in it and there was plenty of space for us, plants and new pond fish. Space in front and rear is exceptional but the boot is only big enough for a few Sainsbury's carrier bags. I was worried that the car (being a 1.0) would struggle when overtaking or on 60mph roads, but it was fine and the only noise you could hear was the 3cyl engine grumbling away. I took it for a few miles on a motorway and coped very well in the fast lane doing about 75mph. I had no problems with quality or refinement, or space to be honest (as I only have the second car), and fuel consumption was excellent. I had previously had a Corsa SXi 1.2 courtesy car which used nearly £30 in petrol in just under a week. I had the 107 for 9 days and used just over £15, averaging well over 60mpg. Unlike some other cheap cars, Peugeot haven't skimped on quality, as everything is well put together, and there's even an iPod socket, but I don't have an iPod, let alone the right lead! My 17 y.o son got an insurance quote and it came in at around £2,000, instead of nearly £3,000 for a W-Reg Clio. He is seriously considering getting a Citroën C1 (basically identical, but a friend works at a Citroën dealer) when he has some experience, because it is so good to drive, and cheap to run. A five star car, highly recommended.
Pros:
Great fuel economy, very nippy off the line, nice to look at and generally very cheap runner!
Against:
Ok, like so many other 107 and C1 owners I have also been plagued with the leaky boot situation. Not at all impressed for a year old car!! Noticed a cracked hazard light button also, and some very cheap fittings inside. I would have to say that solid and this car's interior construction are two words that don't match. Rust underneath the car will be very well developed after a month or two from purchase, which is normal however they could have sprayed a protective coating underneath the car. The dealership is not perfect, however did get fantastic after sales service from their Clapham branch!
Summary:
Em, nice car with only a few problems but non-mechanical so far! Will be looking at Honda for next purchase!
Cute, Clever, Economical...what more could you ask for?
I have this car just over a month and a half and I must say: I am extremely pleased with it.
First, the pros:
.It looks absolutely stunning .Interior space for front passengers is more than adequate .Cabin looks and feels excellent quality, dash is spacious and everything is easily accessible & usefull. .Running costs are great, and isurance and TAX rates are brilliant. .Parking really couldn't be any easier. .Despite its small engine, picks up the speed nicely and is a fast car. .Comfortable, nice looking seating.
Secondly, cons:
.Despite its modern look, the car doesnt exactly feel as 'solid' as, say, a Volkswagen. The front bumper is pure plastic and would never survive a small crash. .It is apparent where costs were saved, the whole car carpet is rather flimsy (however this does mean that cleaning and modifying the car is a lot easier). The body-colored interior door panels will appeal to some people, but will look cheap to others. .Suspensions are dry, and going over a ramp will be uncomfortable until you get used to the car. .Motorway crosswinds will blow the car all over the place.
Overall, I highly reccomend the Peugeot 107 S.E. It's truly a great, economical, modern car. It may not be cheap, but the low running costs will make up for the extra hundred. This car is truly Smiles better than the rest!!!
I have the standard take up model which I love as I'm 18 with a brand new car. This car is perfect in many ways as I can afford it by only working…
I bought this car a year ago after watching the video on here, and reading a few reviews on the car. My wife really liked the car so we bought it.…
