For The turbocharged petrol engine gives sparkling pace and great refinement, yet it's cleaner and more frugal than the entry-level 1.6 petrol. Sport trim provides goodies like alloys wheels and cruise control.
Against This version is pricey to buy, and the diesels will offer you far better running costs.
A cracking buy if you have your heart set on a petrol-powered 5008, but we'd recommend the 1.6 diesel due to its lower running costs.
The Peugeot 5008 is closely related to the excellent Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, with the same clever seating layout and a similarly practical cabin.
The two cars are subtly different in character, however. The 5008's design and exterior styling owe more to Peugeot's 3008 small family car crossover, and the Peugeot has a more conventional dashboard design. Of the two, the Peugeot is better to drive, with a more controlled ride and much more satisfying steering.
Inside, however, the 5008 doesn't feel as airy as the Picasso because it misses out on the Citroen's huge up-and-over windscreen and slimmer front pillars.
All UK cars have seven seats (there are no current plans for a five-seater) and you can specify some clever technology. How about a jet fighter-style head-up display that helps you keep your eyes on the road at all times, or a system that warns you if you're getting too close to the car in front?
