For The Tepee has plenty of space for four and their luggage, so it’s very practical for such a small car. A smooth ride means it's decent to drive, too.

Against The kids will get annoyed that the rear windows don't open fully, and it lacks some safety kit. The long tailgate could prove to be a pain as well.

3 out of 5 stars

The Bipper has decent practicality, and although it isn't especially clever, the low price and running costs mean there's much to like about the car.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

The most obvious attraction of the Bipper is how much space it gives you for little money. It's one of the UK's very cheapest MPVs.

Admittedly, you can never forget that this is basically a van with windows – that much is obvious from the look and feel of the interior, and the low specification – but you'll appreciate the easy manoeuvrability and low running costs.

The range includes one engine and two trims, but if you can, you should go for the most expensive Outdoor trim, which has standard air-conditioning and a tougher appearance on its raised suspension.
