For This car's engine has been uprated by 20bhp over the unit in the S, cutting 0.5 seconds off the 0-60mph time. It also has a modified suspension and a lower chassis to improve handling.
Against The trouble is, the GTS costs the thick end of £8000 more than the 4.8 S, which is a mighty fine car in its own right.
This is a good car, but when you can save £8000 on its cost and get something as good as the 4.8 S, there's no way to justify it.
There's no such thing as a slow Cayenne, but we think it's worth upgrading from the most basic model, which needs working quite hard. The next model up the range, with a 4.8-litre engine, is appreciably quicker and our favourite version of the Cayenne.
