Be aware, though, that in this image-conscious class, it’s always the newest, must-have model that tops the sales charts.

At least you won't be short changed when it comes to equipment. Even entry-level cars come with 17-inch alloys, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control, a fixed glass wind deflector and fully integrated Tom Tom sat-nav.
