For Dynamique spec is more desirable than Extreme, adding alloy wheels, air-conditioning and electric front windows.

Against It looks pricey given the space on offer, despite clever packaging, and it’s still far from a hot hatch.

A desirable step up in equipment over the Expression, but it’s not that cheap to buy or run, and it’s not too practical - the boot is tiny.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

The Renault Twingo comes in two very distinct flavours depending on which version you go for. The 1.2 Dynamique is your conventional city car - it has a modestly-powered 1.2-litre petrol engine, and although it rides quite nicely and is fairly easy to manoeuvre around town, it can’t match the dynamic abilities of the best city cars.

The Renaultsport version is a completely different beast. With a 1.6-litre petrol engine that gives 131bhp and thrives on lots of revs, the car has a frenetic, gung-ho feel. The handling contributes to that, too, because it’s crisp, controlled and beautifully balanced. So, the Renaultsport is one of the best junior hot hatches you can buy, and add the optional Cup pack, which brings stiffer, lower suspension, it gets even better.
