    My car

I've had the Exeo ST TSI for a couple of months and about 4000 miles as a temporary company car.

Economy is nowhere near official figures of 40mpg or 600 miles per tank. I averaged 29mpg or 450 miles per tank and that included a lot of sedate motorway miles. I don't have a heavy foot either - I averaged 45mpg no problem in my last Vectra against official figures of 47mpg.

Boot and rear legroom are quite tight. I'm a sales rep and had to leave quite a few samples at home because they wouldn't fit in the car. The biggest problem is the boot space isn't very deep. That said, there's not much that comes close to the old Vectra Estates and I don't know if these Exeo's are pitched against family/rep cars like Mondeo/Vectra(Insignia) or compact exec's like the A4 it's based on.

Performance is understandably good with nearly 200bhp, but the grip is no match for the power. I'm not sure if the tyres had been abused in the 10,000 miles before I got it or whether a boot full of samples significantly upsets the handling, but my experience was poor. The handling seems twitchy and skittish especially in the wet and it takes nothing for the front to start giving way to understeer.

Trim and comfort is very good and not wanting for anything. Everything feels solidy put together. I spend an average of 4 hours a day in the car.

This car would suit a family man who still yearns for the performance of a hot hatch. I'll be going back to a Vauxhall Insignia in a couple of weeks.
