    My car

Bought this car after owning a C-max. Did look at Ford Kuga which looks fantastic on the outside but was like sitting in a C-max - the wife couldn't tell the difference. Also VW Tiguan - too expensive and the Freelander - too big. The Yeti is just about perfect in size, its not too big to be branded a full blown, fuel burning 4x4. The outside is a little bit boxy (postman pat style) but you drive the car from the inside. Its got all the latest mod-cons, although I would have liked a sunroof. Driving it is a pleasure and I don't get tired on long journeys. My only complaint if any, is that the bonnet is a little light and because you can see it from the cockpit you can see it vibrate, I kept thinking the latch was up for the first month or so. It might just be the shiny colour and the reflections cos the bonnet certainly feels sturdy when stood still. The engine is strong, and feels even better after its first 18k mile service. Long journey MPG can reach high 50's if cruising. Average 48mpg to work and back on A roads at 40-50mph. Total average with some town driving is 44mpg. I tend to stick between 1000 and 2500rpm but every month or so I drive home in a low gear the clear the soot out. Cetainly feels better after. Problems encounterd:- Xenon lights not working together - control unit change Bluetooth unit changed TWICE ??? Skoda dealer very slow to respond, weeks to get a booking slot. Summer tyres shocking in the snow, trying all-season tyres this

    My car

we have 4 yetis in the family. main day to day car is a 1.2 2wd dsg version. good enough for local rides to school, work & shopping. this is with us since may & has done many miles successfully.

we have a 2.0 4wd diesel that we use around the farm. surprisingly good in the mud & over rough terrain. big enough to carry large heavy objects without fear. this is a work car, and although it has been used a lot, it is surprisingly tough & has survived being attacked by a cow!

and both my sisters have one each for good measure. they are both happy with the car, as it offers them everything they need for not such a big price.

they may still be considered unfashionable because of their name & the jokes, but believe me, they are very good cars now.

if you cannot see beyond the brand & silly name, then i suggest you stay away from them and let us owners enjoy them!

    My car

We have both test driven the 1.2 TSI SE DSG version and both my wife and I were so impressed we ordered one even though demand means a wait for delivery. We paid special attention to the areas criticised and were puzzled. It wasn't unsettled at any speed on a mix of road surfaces and it was quiet. Is this down to the tyres fitted? Acceleration was good enough for overtaking lorries at 60-70 mph even on the low (150) mileage engine, quite remarkable for a 1.2 - I'm used to a 2L diesel. No creaks and rattles noticed.

And if you are a lttle stiff in the joints or have back problems the high seating position compared with the equivalent size hatchback is bliss - access front and rear is excellent.

The DSG gearbox was smooth and jerk free and there was no noticeable lag on pulling away. MPG not as good as a diesel (hence 4 stars for running costs)but not bad.

Can't wait for ours to arrive!

    My car

I have owned my Yeti for five months now and have been very impressed with it. The handling is incredible for a tall car and demands no compromises if, like me, you were used to driving regular hatchbacks. The ride can be a little unsettled on poor surfaces but is by no means bad and the taught handling more than makes up for it. All main controls are nicely weighted and the Yeti can be genuinely good fun to drive. The Yeti has a solid, quality feel, in line with other VW group cars that I have owned. I have not had any faults or quality concerns so far. I paid under £14k for mine and for the money the level of standard equipment and amount of quality car you get is unbeatable. For the price of a Fiesta this car is extremely good value. The high set driving position helps make the Yeti very relaxing to drive and easy to place on the road. Refinement is generally very impressive with only some tyre noise on poor surfaces. Wind and engine noise are subdued. The little 1.2 TSI engine is amazing. With one or two people on board it provides the Yeti with a surprising turn of speed and yet I have still averaged 42 mpg over the first 5000 miles. The boot is a little shallow when you specify the spare wheel option but the rear seats slide and are removable making the car very practical. The Yeti also gets a proper sturdy parcel shelf rather than one of those flimsy retractable covers. Overall an excellent car for the money and highly recommended. I would buy another.
