    My car

I have owned the 147 for nearly four years now and it has been a real pleasure to drive. I have had no problems or breakdowns in the entire four years.

    My car

I have been driving an Alfa for 3.5 years, and in general it is a very nice car.

The performance from the 1600 is OK - not stunning but not bad. It could perhaps do with a little more torque.

I have had no major problems, just the odd niggle. The dealers are a bit hit and miss.

Over the last 2-3 months I have noticed that the interior is starting to show its age. As the buttons on the air-con and steering wheel are starting to lose their paint finish!

However that said, it is a stunning looking car, and still turns heads.

So if you are looking for an alternative to the mainstream Focus/Golf route, you could do a lot lot worse.

    My car

It's noisy especially on non-smooth (motorways) roads.

Some leather stitching got loose twice in the first year of ownership, and some of the interior trim became loose and broken.

    My car

I traded my Ford Scorpio Ultima in for the 147 2.0 TS Lusso Selespeed because I wanted a car that was different to the likes of the Focus, Astra, Golf etc, and it was the biggest mistake I had ever made.

Within two weeks, my car went back to the dealers to have the front nearside suspension replaced, which took just over a week to sort out. Three months later it went back to have a new gearstick fitted, which took a week and a half to fix. Then the heated seats packed up.

Two months after that, the gearbox gave up and wouldn't let me select any gears, needless to say I took the car back and told the dealer to keep it - losing me a lot of money. The whole time the dealer as a whole did not seem to care about me or the car and in one event when asking for a courtesy car the service department laughed saying I had no chance.

Don't be fooled by its sexy good looks and its good driving style, you'll be wasting your money and a lot else. I'm now driving around in another Scorpio Ultima, which to me is a lot better and reliable.
