    My car

This is an excellent car to drive, although can be a bit hard and bumpy.

It has a very responsive engine, and great body styling and interior. I have had no trouble with it other than a little clutch slip on Selespeed when dropping to low gears and then accelerating fast.

Part exchange prices don't give credit to the car.

    My car

It is one year old now and there are a few rattles creeping in to the cabin from the dash. The ride is very choppy and this is exaggerated on the slightest road imperfections. It grips well in bends and the steering is very precise with good feedback.

I made the mistake of opting for the larger 17-inch wheels - a decision which I regret, as does my back.

The biggest issue with owning an Alfa Romeo is the dealership service levels, which have been pitiful at best.

I have experienced a dash warning light reading "ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE-PLEASE GO TO DEALER". It happened no fewer than eight times in five months of ownership, at which point they finally identified th fault. I was in the dealer this morning reporting a strange noise and the Alfa customer in front of me, a thirty-something lady, was actually in tears about her vehicle and catalogue of problems experienced.

    My car

I love this car, it looks great, goes well for a 1.8 and has decent handling too! Ride quality is poor around town and on rough roads however.

It's very comfortable inside and is roomy for driver and passengers but don't try to carry a lot of luggage, it just doesn't work!

I haven't had any reliability issues apart from loose trim inside cabin, but that's Italian build quality for you. The dealer I used was fairly average, nothing to complain about but nothing to shout about either.

Fuel economy isn't great for a 1.8, I've had 2.0 cars that return better figures but you don't buy an Alfa for econmy or practicality. I bought it because it looks great and not for practical reasons.

I would recommend one of these cars if you have the same expectations as I do. If not get a BMW!

    My car

I have taken the car to the garage on several occasions having experienced faults with the engine management system during my 14 months of ownership. I had to return the car recently (product recall) which I believe was a fault with the fuel sender. On picking up the car, I was informed that the speedometer had been replaced, but I have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation for this from my dealership. I am presently looking at buying another vehicle, having been thoroughly disillusioned by the aftersales service I have received.
