I have enjoyed nearly six years of enjoyable motoring in my Selespeed 2 litre T spark. An average of 34 miles per gallon was achieved. Fun to drive at all times. Selespeed tended to be a bit 'jerky' when fluids were cold. An Alfa recall of the ECU took place 4 years ago. Main areas of complaint were a few body rattles at 95,000 miles as the car got older. The model suffers from a very poor turning circle. Would I buy another, you bet I would!
I bough my Xreg 2.0 TS selespeed 12 mnths ago,66.000 on clock. I have loved it. cruising up and down from yorkshire to london to see the grandkids, no problem and so economical compared to my previous toyota corolla. Alas the love affair has ended, with 88.000 on clock,a problem with the gear boxaccording to the dealers (but I can still drive it they say, it obviously hasn't made the noises for them that it did for me, neither did they have the problems setting off in first).I agreed to a new gearbox fitting (?£2.000+)but four weeks later and they are still waiting for parts. So I have decided to trade in for a punto.Proably the worst decision of my life after reading the reviews.I'll never fall in love again it is too painful parting.
I bought the 156 2.4 JTD Veloce facelift in Feb to replace company Honda Accord Exec. Nowhere near the build quality but gorgeous in every other respect. Totally reliable so far. (But then 7 Alfa's later they always have been for me) 45-51 mpg regardless and goes like the wind. One big gripe is the panel beneath engine. Bottoms out consistently despite careful driving and now broken.. mmm. lets see what my main dealer says/does?
I ave a 156 1.6 TS. I have had the car for 18 months now - it had done 61,000 miles when bought, and it has now covered 82,000 miles.
It has had no problems whatsoever - it's fun to drive, very comfortable and handles well. The engine is lively for a 1.6.
This is my first Alfa Romeo and won't be the last - I would like next to buy the 1.9 JTD with 150bhp - it seems like a good mix of power and economy to me.
I hope it will be as reliable as my 1.6.

I've had 6 VWs now including this one and it is a mixed bag. In no particular order the economy is poor despite the FSI badging and in town never…
Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
