Great to look at and drive. V6 sounds as well as it goes. However this comes at the cost of poor economy, very high service and running costs with patchy reliability.
That said get in it, turn the key and drive it and it seems to win you over again every time. Whilst not as technically able as german brands, this car has a real personality and every petrolhead should own one at some point; you dont know what your missing.
The car is a delight to drive. The engine is responsive except at low revs and can hold its own against the "beamer" brigade. It looks a lot better as well.
First smitten by the looks, I soon fell seriously for this car as a drivering machine, bella machina as they would say in Turino.
The ride may be on the hard side for today's tastes but for me it only adds to the sporty feel and, combined with the awesome torque and acceleration, cornering ability and presence, the overall verdict is one of the most enjoyable and exciting cars I have had.
She is due to go back to the leasing company at the end of October and I am feeling genuinely sad - but someone will pick up an immaculate bargain when it goes back on sale.
My replacement? The Alfa GT of course. I only hope they rush the 2.4-litre version through in time. The 1.9 may have the same power but surely nothing can compare to this 2.4 engine for all-round performance.
I do not seem to have the problems other owners have. I do agree that the dealers have room for improvement.
The car has always been reliable and I can find no faults. I would buy another.
