    My car

Prior to owning my 2004 Alfa GT1.9JTD, I have driven Audi TT, Audi A3 1.8T and BMW's, and I think that I will enjoy the ride of this car. I have found a few niggles, which I have reported to the dealership and they are going to be looking into the "faults". The locations that I have to drive are on some very bumpy back roads and I find the ride very hard, which is good, but not pothole "friendly" and plays havoc with the CD's in the changer.

The only running cost I have is to fill up with diesel the cost was £59.50 and I have covered 340 miles and still have just under 1/2 a tank left.

I find the inner cabin a bit noisey, but I have very acute hearing so the slightest squeak can I can pick up but I until the dealership have the car, the CD system is pumped up very loud. I have not yet been able to take HER on a motorway to really open up, but I am sure this will soon be rectified.

I feel very honoured to be one of a very few (female drivers!) of such a sexy vehicle. Hopefully I can update my message after a few months too see if my impression is still the same...GREAT BUY! Come on ladies, give up the ride of a BMW/Audi TT and give Alfa a go!

    My car

I've now owned a 55 plate for 13 months after purchasing it 2nd hand from a dealer when it was a year old.

The performance and handling are excellant. The only reason I have not given it 5 for on the road is because of the 18" alloys which although looking superb take away from the ride a bit. Doesnt help that I buckled 2 of mine on a flooded pothole that I didnt see until too late. I may change to 17" when I have the money. Also watch the speed bumps.

I can get about an average of 24.5-25 mpg combined which is better than I expected (Alfa quote 22mpg combined as normal). Obviously booting it will drastically reduce this. Servicing costs so far have been very reasonable combined with a newly opened very good dealer in Perth. Insurance group 19 is a bit sore but what do you expect from a car like this.

Only problem so far is a broken clip on the clutch which was fixed easily under warranty. Interior build quality is equivalent to my previous Audi (very good) The boot size is amazing for a 2 door coupe. The seats are amazingly comfortable.

Finally the looks are the icing on the cake. It is always a good thing to standout a bit from the normal.

    My car

I have had the GT from new. My friends thought I had lost the plot and my wife threatened to leave me. After 3 years I have not regretted buying it.

The exterior looks amazing - even at a standstill The interior is plush and makes you feel cocooned from the outside. The ergonomics are first class.

40000 miles with alfa servicing. Servicing not cheap average 400 quid. Also had to change belt after revised guidance from Alfa, cost 600 pounds. Bit annoyed with that. However the alfa garage were courteous, honest and reliable.

One or two fiddly electrical problems. One touch front window became two or three touch. Parking sensor did not work n delivery. (Parking sensors recommended in view of poor rear visibility).

thinking about getting a 159 sportwagon. Wife dosen't know yet, probably get new friends.
