    My car

Bought a low milelage 2.0 Twin Spark GTV on a N plate..This being my second Alfa.Looks fab after wash & polish and still turns heads everywhere even at 12 years old !! Drives well even when compared with more modern day vehicles.Engine noise just beautiful.Take no notice of Alfa's bad reputation...you just need to understand they require a bit more attention to items such as oil & water...regulary checking & topping up the key...then you'll have marque thats just as reliable as any other vehicle. You get the exclusivety too, just 6000 were sold in the UK.An Alfa GTV...if your bold enough to take the plunge , there's big smiles on the other side !!!

    My car

Whilst I understand the problems with the suspension on this car. I can't quite understand why anyone would not want one! The engine is great!

After developing a squeak on the rear, I did some research on websites regarding it. I have uprated the suspension on mine to Powerflex bushes. No squeaks and the guy who did the MOT was very impressed by the handling after it had been uprated! All the work cost £160.

The last full service I had done cost me £630, that was full belts, aux belts and so on! Go to local independent Alfa specialists. Avoid going direct to a dealer!

Love it round town, I think its a real head turner. The turning circle is lousy! But this car is not designed to park! Its designed to drive and believe me it does what its designed to do well!

    My car

I did 110,000 km in this car. It served me as transport during my travelling trainer job in Germany.

Practicality is good as long as you just have to carry a laptop and a suit. I very much rate the car's ability to minimise the number of volunteering passengers.

It is a joy to drive as long as you avoid the German autobahn. As far as reliability is concerned, I saw a lot of stranded Audis, Mercedes, and even BMWs on this autobahn.

The GTV and I crossed the Alps and now enjoy a much more settled life in the south of France.

The car is not suited for short travels in and around town. It is good to drive fast on an entertaining road, not to wait endlessly at traffic lights.

    My car

I have owned one of these for 4 months now, it's 8 years old, and I have to say that reliability is much better than had been lead to believe. It has just sailed through the MOT (my cheapest ever MOT bill in 16 years of driving!), and apart from a few very minor niggles (screen wash filter blocked) it has been fault free.

The noise from the engine is great, the handling and acceleration are more than adaquate and styling is very Italian (= pretty damn cool).

Down sides are fuel economy (or lack there of) and tractionfrom standstill, due to front wheel drive. Torque steer can also rear its head if pushing hard in first or second, but considering it's 220 BHP through the front wheel it manages very well.

Overall I would recommend this car to anyone wanting as much driving pleasure as possible for £4K.
