Excellent car, both frugal and fast. The DSG gearbox is brilliant. The standard equipment is disappointing at this price. The ride can feel uncomfortable over poor surfaces. The seat-folding mechanisim to enter the back-seat is irratating. Handling and performance are superb. The interior trim looks great.
I have got this Audi A3 Sport 2.0 FSI as my company car and it has a good pack of options like the Xenon headlamps, leather upholstery, Symphony II + Bose audio system including CD changer, cruise control and other goodies.
This car shows quality and comfort everywhere. The seats are great and the overall feel of the cabin is top-notch. A week driving a Vectra Estate (last model) highlighted the quality of this Audi.
The driving is always a pleasure and every time I switch off the car I'm already looking forward to the next drive. It handles wonderfully and gives you a great feeling of control, inviting you to try it a little harder.
For my taste, this car is awesome-looking and the 17-inch five-spoke alloys increase the sporty feeling.
All in all, this is certainly the best car I have had so far. As my car is late '53-registration and I will use it only for three years, I'm already starting at look which Audi I'll have next as this A3 has left me a really good impression.
After owning a couple of Golfs, the latter being a 150PD an Audi seemed to be the natural progression, especially as the Mark 5 Golf has reduced interior quality in comparison to the previous model.
The A3 has a superbly built and appointed interior which offers a high-class feel at every 'touch' point.
Externally the car has an understated yet sporting presence amplified by the low and sleek shape.
Handling is well improved over the previous model and offers for me the perfect blend between refinement and sporting prowess, entering and exiting corners instils a sense of confidence and damping is sufficient for all but the worst of road surfaces.
Performance is adequate in accelaration terms and mid-range and overtaking capabilities are spot on, this coupled with good fuel economy make for high degree of satisfaction from an ownership point of view.
I have been so impressed that I am now considering the new Sportback 2.0TDI DSG to replace my wife's company vehicle in the near future.
On the subject of purchase price, this may be on the high side but the quality more than compensates.
One happy Audi owner.
With diesels so good, why bother with a petrol?
The only thing against this car is that they only made a three-door when it came out. The new 5 door doesnt look as good.
