    My car

I've owned an Audi A4 Avant for just over a year now. The car is very refined and, in SE trim at least, has excellent ride quality. The 143bhp engine has plenty of torque low down in the rev range and is comfortable cruising at motorway speeds.

On the negative side, the infotainment system is beginning to feel quite dated now - especially compared to the latest Audi models such as the A3 and TT. The sat nav on my 2012 model will not accept full postcodes and the traffic system only picks up disruption on major A-roads and motorways, not minor roads. Although the car's Bluetooth system works well for making calls, it does not allow you to stream music - instead, you need to plug your phone/mp3 player in using a cable.

The CVT gearbox also can be quite frustrating at times. Identical throttle inputs can produce very different results which can be disconcerting if you're trying to squeeze into a small gap on a busy roundabout. The car will also get nowhere near it's claimed 60mpg+ - more like 45mpg.

Despite these issues, I would still recommend the A4 Avant to anyone looking for a classy, comfortable estate. The car has had no reliability issues in the year I've owned it, the interior is extremely high standard and the car is an excellent long-distance cruiser.

    My car

I have has this car 12 months now and driven just short of 35,000 miles. It is a leased vehicle so running costs don't really apply, and though fuel economy is OK I would have expected better, especially as I took the first 5000 miles steady with regards to keeping the revs down - I can get 50 mpg but only taking it steady.

With regards to the professional reviews I take exception to complaints about having a FIRM RIDE. My car was supplied with the free 30 mm lowered /stiffened suspension option and I have to say that in the dry it corners like it's on rails and the ride is exactly how I like it - I am driving a car not travelling in a boat.

There isn't an issue with the offset pedals for me - no different to the BMW I drive.

The only issue I have is wet/icy weather - having very wide tyres means that whenever this sort of weather occurs - the car gets a bit lively! Added to this is the fact that the tyres on the front didn't make 20000 miles and the rear ones are now due!

The Bang & Oluffson stereo/dab radio is fantastic for the ears and there are enough standard gadgets to keep most happy - though I had to have as an optional extra a lockable glove box and rear seat pockets - something which I would normally expect as standard.

The 19" Rotor alloys finish the car off perfectly.

My verdict is I would definitely have again as a lease vehicle, though maybe in the Quattro version for better winter performance.

Too expensive for a private vehicle in my opin

    My car

Been driving this car from new since early may,On average I clock up 800 miles a week in this car,lot of motorway miles which it eats up. Slightly disappointed with the fuel economy ,just scraping 40/41 mpg, but I would expect this to improve a little as time goes on. Had 1 puncture at 10k, decided to replace both tyres, kept the one as an emergency replacement as it still had over 3mm of tread left. No other issues , the auto gearbox is a dream, and must say as a bad back sufferer, no issues with the seats or comfort even after 3 hour plus journeys.

    My car

I have owned this car from new, for 18 months and covered 50,000 miles. Tomorrow is my last day in it. Hoorray! The seat has caused my serious back pain which despite repeated attempts to resolve has caused issues for me from day one. Its a great pity as in all other respects its a great car, and Im taking a sieriuos hit to bale out thsi early.

So, if you are considering an A4 SE , take great care that the seat suits you very well, as there is no way to adjust the lumbar/back support, and the dealer just does not want to know. Customer care, what customer care. This is my 4th A4 and I made the mistake of assuming this model would be as comfortable as the last ones. Not so, at least not for me.
