I bought my A4 in feb 06, with 79k on the clock. It was an 02 plate at the time. I have to say that the lad who sold me the car was very misleading with his numbers. He claimed he had hit 70mpg on the motorway and 50mpg local. Locally i hit 28-33mpg, and on the motorway i'd be lucky to hit 45mpg. Is my car faulty? No i am and ex-mechanic with all tools and equipment to know whether or not there is a fault and i haven't detected a thing. I regularly check the oil as that is a common fault on the car (loves its oil) and kept up all regular maintenence. Recently the air con compressor went and i am yet to replace. I am looking to sell on the car or p/x. Im thinking of a C180 petrol or c220 cdi as a replacement. Have seen some fine examples of the mercs.
Stop over-exaggerating the mpg on these things, its silly talk!
A beautifully built and very easy to live with car, so well built and designed. I ve owned mine from new and completed 84,000 miles in just over two years. Its been 100% reliable and a joy to own. Not as quick - especially in acceleration - as I'd expected and very thirsty if driven hard. Servicing costs rather painful and usual mediocre often god-like attitude from Audi main dealer. I'd most definately have another but feel a stronger pulling diesel would be a better option next time.
I had this as a company car for 3 years and I have to say I loved it!!
Very smooth, refined, nicely built. I replaced it with a Passat, which was a big mistake because the Passat doesn't even begin to touch it in terms of refinement and build quality.
There was only one negative which was that the back seats did not go down which meant the car could not be used to carry anything long!!
Other than that, an A+ car.
I bought an A4 1.8T 190bhp in August 04, so I'm just heading upto 4years ownership. Fantastic car, great drive, bit solid some times on the ride quality, quite a rigid suspension, but it returns great consumption now that I've sold me lead boots and replaced them with leather slip ons. I've had issues with the ignition coil and with a similar on in the spark plug area, which were changed quite reasonably at a local garage - I don't use Audi anymore, I'm fortunate to have a garage near by that specialise in Audi/VW's and are very reasonably priced. My oil pump packed in reducing the engine to one with the sound of a diesel, I did about 3 miles with it in this state so saved a fortune on running it with no oil. Again, got a great deal from the local garage...a friend suggested that a similar issue at Audi would have cost 3/400 quid, so I was very pleased with the outcome. The stereo is a basic one with CD, but I think that the quality of sound is tremendous. I'm fortunate that my car's a fantastic blue with lovely alloys - which I had re-alloyed (?) for about 35 a wheel late last year, what a difference. I used to drive a saab which was a fantastic car, I've also driven 3 series and C-Class, this is my favourite. When it's clean it sparkles, it drives like a dream and turns heads. I love mine.
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
I've had 6 VWs now including this one and it is a mixed bag. In no particular order the economy is poor despite the FSI badging and in town never…
Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
