The service level from the Audi Garage has been so poor it has really taken the shine off this car.
If you experience any problems with service or car quality the garage can simply ignore you and Audi UK central seems powerless to do anything about it.
This is the worst experience from a car Company or dealership I have ever had.
I have enjoyed this car for over two years and forty thousand B-road miles. The handling and high speed stability is really very impressive for a family saloon. Likewise, the mid range acceleration can be equally satisfying, if you push the eager turbo to near full revs. Overtaking and motorway driving are also pleasantly rewarding.
Practicality wise, the rear legroom is really only suitable for junior humans over a long journey. But that said,t his sacrifice sits easily alongside the absolutely cavernous boot. Equipment levels are high in any Audi, but this model boasts auto climate, heated mirrors, locks, and washer jets. The auto dimming rear view mirror and comprehensive driver information computer, along with the host of other "toys", galvanise the reality that you are in control an above average machine.
Driver's comfort is second to none, and caters for most lengths of person.
Around town, the taut suspension has little to offer, and the 34mpg's will only be improved out on faster roads.
Local servicing has been a pleasure, and not as expensive as some lesser car brands. Reliability has been above average too.
All in all, a fantastic driver's machine, which can easily be tamed to carry out family duties.
I have had the car for over a year, replacing my Ford Mondeo. I needed a diesel because of the mileage I do (last year I covered 32,000 miles).
It is a wonderful place to spend endless miles in as long as you are on the motorway or on A roads. Take it to twisty roads and, to be honest, the Mondeo would eat it for breakfast. I find it likes to run wide if pushed, and I find the suspension is a little soft, being set up for comfort more than handling.
With regards to economy, I cannot think of a better car to be in. I am not a hard driver and spend much time on the motorway. The car is returning, on average, about 57 mpg. I have the 115bhp model, on a 2000 'W' plate and it certainly has got some pace. It is perfect at quick acceleration for overtaking, and is safe and secure.
I have had a couple of little niggles with it, especially the electrics, which can be a worry, but I always feel proud to get in the car and drive.
The dealer is generally very good. They will pick the car up from the office, service it and bring it back nice and clean, but also take a hefty chunk of my bank balance. I do think that the servicing and parts are quite expensive, but I suppose you are to expect that from a car of this prestige.
With the couple of problems I have had, the dealer has fixed them, luckily, while under the Audi approved warranty scheme, without quibble or hesitation.
I was a 5-series BMW driver but since I bought the Audi all I can say about the car is excellent build quality and performance.
I have reached the 110,000 mile mark and have had no problems at all (touch wood). I will hold onto this car for as long as it lasts
