    My car

I have had a 2.0Tdi for a couple of years, bought as a demo with 6000 miles the car has now over 70000 on the clock. Overall the car has been pleasure to own and drive and very reliable only needing routine, if very expensive, servicing. However this week the gloss has been well and truly knocked of the ownership experience. The engine emissions light came on requiring replacement of a sensor. I know the car is technically out of warranty on mileage grounds , but given the car is still under 3 years old has been main dealer services and has not incurred Audi any other warranty costs you would have thought some good will would apply, especially as I happen to have a new A6 on order for March delivery! But oh no. Audis customer service (if thats what you can call them) didnt want to know, left it to the dealer who knocked a few bobs worth of labour off the bill. Not good, Not good at all. Have I made the right decision going for another Audi?

    My car

Bought new in August 05 and still going strong 90,000 miles later. No issues to date. Positives: smooth drive, reliable, economical to run and service, good power in mid range. Negatives: poor legroom in back (not the family car we're led to believe unless your children are under 5), fairly soft drive even with sports suspension and there are thousands of them on the road. It's not terribly exciting but it does the job well and I'd buy another one.

    My car

After trying several compact executive cars the only one that was both comfortable & good to drive was the A4. I picked up my 2.0TDI 140 S line model in March 2007 and having covered 21000 miles I am very happy with the car. Minor points are a radio with a life of its own sometimes & a sluggish 1st gear. However you soon learn to change up early into 2nd and pick up from 1500 RPM is lively. I have had to put about 11/2 litres of oil in but this compares favourably with a previous 2.0 Petrol A4 that guzzled oil. The dealership have been excellent and booking a service/loan car was no problem at all. I understand comments about a firm ride but this is price worth paying for good handling and is in my opinion a much more comfortable ride than the 320d SE that I tried. Any way if like me most of your driving is on A roads & motorways it is more than acceptable on 17" wheels. Overall a classy looking car that drives well, I would definately buy another.

    My car

My version is with the 1.8T (economical) engine but I have had these problems in the past 4 years from new. A quarter rear window motor failed within weeks, the radio loom has failed so no radio, the passenger seat lever cable had to be replaced, the water pump and thermostat have been replaced (38k miles)and failed on the M25 and needed an AA tow back to Audi, the boot catch has also failed so needs replacing and the cig lighter socket does not work (for mobile phone recharging etc). That's quite a lot of fails for a so called German build quality. In my opinion you should think twice before you buy the badge.

While my expereince of car dealers for servicing has been poor at Renault & Audi and others in the past, I have given up on them. I will service my car at an Audi specialists rather than pay the extortionate prices and that is their loss. Is it me or do they employ people with no manners and no people experience on purpose.

My frustration has led me to not only write this brief but also to commit to changing my car witin the next few weeks, such is my annoyance with this "premium" brand. Quality is not something I mind paying for, however my experience has not been that impressive.
