USED Audi A5 Coupe (07 - )

My car

The S5 has a fabulous engine - it sounds so good that you have to open the window to drink the sound in. The 60:40 split makes the chassis feels alive and balanced - like a 3 series but a safe one that can put its power down without the annoying orange flashes from the dash that typify a BMW drive. The dash, the controls and the B&O are all great - great to touch, use and listen to. I have an A6 3.0tdi and my heart is taken by this S5. The tax worries me for company car drivers, the fuel consumption worries me for private ownership but the sound track blows my head.

Drove the A5 3.0 TDi sport and was much impressed by the fantastic torque from this new engine! Infact at a day at Millbrook the TDI was just as fast as the S5 around the tight handling circuit the torque just rockets the car out of corners! Handling is a revelation compared to my A6 and although the 2.7tdi in my car is smoother the new 3.0 TDI is in a different performance league alltogether. I can seriously call this diesel a sports car! Build quality is superb and Audi have nailed the coupe desirability factor, in the metal this car is stunning - don't judge it from photos- Go out and drive one -I did and now I'm waiting for my new A5 to be delivered!

I drove my mate's 3.0 petrol.

I am looking to purchase a coupe. I want expensive feel and look, well buit, something that if I turned up outside the Ritz they would open the door and park it, but also something that when i'm at my son's football match does not make me look like i'm a tart. Yet again, if I go to Ascot races I will not look out of place.

These cars are not cheep, so i'm taking my time at the starting paddock and looking at the form in detail.

Audi A5 drove well. Yes I know what you all mean - it's not as hard a ride as the BMW. But then I don't mind a little comfort for my money. The ride is firm without being hard and I think that sums the car up and what Audi are aiming for in the market. It all looks very comfortable inside, with no suprises (but then I don`t like suprises).

It has two rear seats that are actually seats (no I would not put my kids in it every day). I would use these to carry others once in a while.

All in all it is an expensive treat of a car. It's very well put together and everything seemed like it would last. I think it's quite practical (for a coupe) and I rate this car. I think it ticks most of my boxes. For me this one is at the starter's gate.

Niels, it sounds like you want a TT, not an A5. It's a stunning piece of engineering and I find it hard to fault on any count.

In normal human fashion, we try to find spmething wrong just to have an opinion but for he first time in over 20 years of driving, Audi has come up with a dream machine.

If you want back seats, buy an A4 or A6; if you want the ability to seat four on the odd occasion, get the A5. You certainly will not be disappointed.

My only suggestion would be to have more colour choices. The car itself is almost faultless.
