I own a 54 plate, which has black Buffolo leather, multitronic auto box, sat nav, electric everything. The car has now done 124k and drives like a dream, we are taking it down to the south of France next month. Only problem I have had, was the gear box oil pipe blew, RAC, were very good, company called Pirtex made another one, as Audi wanted £250 just for a pair of rubber pipes! however the cost to repair all in all was £240. I have one concern, when I pull away from a juction, it judders (feels like gearbox) does anyone else have the same problem, its not a massive issue, but also it cant be right. Any suggestion to fix are very welcome. All in all, if you are looking to buy one, that has a full S/H, then go and get it, they are much better than any of its rivals.
Where do I start brought this car based on the reputation of reliable Audi. What a dog. The engine dont die and the body is great. Now has 150,000 plus miles. But the electrics are rubbish. the list since I got the car at 100,000 with full service history. Consumer ECU fried due to water ingress from scuttle panel (poor design) drivers door lock ear door lock 3x electric windows dont work properly, airbag light comes on of it own free will every so often. ABS control Unit, Fuel sender for gauge temp sender for both oil and water temp gauge. Not good for a car of this reputation with a very full service history.
Thought I would put up a review of this car if others are looking at is as a potential used buy. We have had our car for nearly 3 years now, a 53 2003 one, picked it up from a car supermarket with around 95k on the clock with a full fleet service history on it. It has been a great workhorse for us with two kids and a dog. Trips to the supermarket, holidays, visits to IKEA, trips to triathlons loaded with gear it does it all with ease. Yes, it doesn't handle brilliantly but it has more than enough power for our needs whilst being reasonably economical, its super comfortable on long journeys and has a cavernous boot. For the first two years of ownership the car was faultless. Recently we have had some problems, but its now done the thick end of 140k so to be honest it would be unrealistic to expect it to have no faults at all in 3 years. The most expensive of these was the rear suspension, it cost well over £500 for the rear shocks alone. However, I have been really impressed with the car overall and would definitely get another one. Even if they have high mileage if these cars are looked after they will go on for a very long time.
I bought the car in Feb 08 as an Audi approved with 54k.The car is a 54 plate 2005 car. Other than some original teething problems as Audi had fitted a new clutch and created an oil leak this car has been completely problem free with the mileage now in excess of 76K. MPG is averaging at around the 46 mark but on a longer run in goes into the 50's. Servicing costs at Audi are expensive and the Timing Belt needs doing now and Audi have quoted me £560 all in but they will change the water pump as well in that cost, so I dont think its all that bad. Car drives great and is proving to be a good all round car for a higher mileage driver.
I've had 6 VWs now including this one and it is a mixed bag. In no particular order the economy is poor despite the FSI badging and in town never…
Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
