    My car

All of the positive comments are true. The A6 3.0 TDI Avant is an extremely pleasant way to cross continents. Effortless four wheel drive and 31mpg average …everything I expected. I bought the car when it was 18 months old with 15K on the clock and it has been serviced as requested (longlife) by Audi dealers. This has not been inexpensive and has been variable in quality. At 8 years and 77Km this car is ramping up its running cost far faster than I would have expected with servicing still averaging out at £650, surprise fuel injector replacement at £3.5K and now an ignition lock replacement at £450 (est) It looks like the running cost are becoming extremely expensive as it ages. Especially compared to a similar age and mileage Mercedes we also own which has only required standard services to date. So Nice Car –Nasty Running cost.

    My car

I can not believe some of the negative reports about this car listed below. My own experience is that, It is a truly brilliant car with an amazing engine. I’ve now had my Audi for two year and I have covered 38,000 trouble free miles and not used a drop of oil.

The plus points: It is smooth, quiet, comfortable and cruises effortlessly at motorway speeds and well above. It handles fantastically for a large estate car. It feels incredibly safe ,solid and reliable. The 2 litre diesel is surprisingly quick for such a large car. It is extremely well equipped. It takes 5 passengers and mountains of luggage with ease and here’s the biggest plus of all, it does 45 mpg on a run and I’m averaging 38 mpg overall which is pretty amazing for a car that weighs well over 1.5 tonnes un-laden.

I work all over the country and often find myself hurtling down the motorway from way up North to my home in Hampshire and I wouldn’t want to do it in anything else. I would go as far to say, that nothing else on the market even comes close in terms of style, comfort, performance and economy combined.

The negative points: Nothing major really.

All-in-all it is a really great car and I am really unhappy that my company is switching to Mercedes Benz this coming spring. I will really miss my Audi

    My car

I have had my A6 for just over 2 year, been impressed so far with its practicality and comfort. As a few people will tell you it has in S-Line spec quite sporty suspension which for some can be a little too firm, I think its great, firm but comfortable. The car is fairly economical but I would recommend a re-map! The new common rail 2.0tdi is much smoother and quieter. My biggest gripe is I am now on my 3rd clutch, all done under warranty but I am concerned as to why they keep going wrong considering my car has only done 28k miles! It is a known problem! Mine also has temperate rattles that come and go and if you use the sun glasses holder they rattle like mad!!! Very annoying when you shell out this money! They represent reasonable value at purchase, perhaps a bit more for your money than a BMW or Mercedes but as I have found out recently the residuals have plummeted with the credit crunch! My £32k motor has a proposed part ex of about £12.5k according to most sites and is only 30 months old!I don't think the other German brands are suffering quite so much! I would by another Audi for sure, my dealer (Liverpool Audi) have been great for all its warranty needs (there have been a few) and the car looks great, it does amuse me that badge snobbery stops me going after some very good alternatives and I should say my wife recently traded a 2 yr old mondeo for a mini and the ford never gave a days bother or needed anything repaired or dealt with! No rattles either!!!

    My car

A very well built practical estate car with excellent performance and economy. Running costs after 3 years seem to be considerably lower than similar German executive makes I have owned previously
