USED Audi A6 Avant (04 - 11)

My car

I really love my A6 apart from the problems I have had with the MMI system. They have finally fixed it and been very good and offered me some accessories as a goodwill gesture but it was infuriating being without a carphone and having associated problems with the radio, CD and sat nav for three months. Apparently, they have had this problem with a number of the A6s - Leeds Audi who look after mine had five of the same parts on order at the time I had the problem so imagine what it was like nationwide. They gave me a 2.0TDI which was good but not nearly as powerful as the 3.0 and when the same problem occurred with the MMI I gave it back and put up with my broken one until they could fix it. That said, I LOVE everything else about the car - it goes like stink, returns 35mpg and has lots of sexy extras. The only thing I really miss compared to the BMW 530d Touring I had before is the front parking sensors .... but that is probably only because I became so used to them.

My car

Love this car, I have owned mine since May 2006 and covered about 25,000 trouble-free miles since then.

It's reliable, solid, fuel-efficient, comfortable, smooth. The only disdavantages to ownership are a slightly firm ride on rougher surfaces, but with a car with sports suspension, it's to be expected... My local Audi garage give me very good service as well.

My car

I bought my A6 Avus Silver 2.0TDi S-Line new in Dec 2006. It replaced my previous 2003 A6 Avant 1.9TDi Sport which after nearly 4 years and 90,000 miles of trouble free motoring it was time for a change. I was worried about buying a car so soon after release due to possible glitches, but overall I should not have worried. The engine is much smoother and quieter than my old 1.9, although it uses slightly more fuel (can't feel the speed!). Got regular 48-49 mpg out of old one. This one does 45mph. I guess it's down to the heavier car. Bought it with bluetooth phone, DVD satnav and privacy glass. Tried to add Xenon's after I'd ordered but Audi wouldn't allow it due to the excellent finance deal they has offered me. Have since changed rear lights to LED. The car looks stunning and gets admiring glances wherever it is. Have now covered 24,500 miles and have never needed to top up the oil. A few glitches I've had: MMI kept clicking and didn't play music (caused by dealer fit phone cradle) and had clutch judder (known problem on Diesels and fixed under warranty). Other than than has been perfect. Only complaints: the way it follows tramlines in the road(am going to try different tyres) sunglasses holder too small, no iPod connection and slight clip of kerb at 20mph (wife not me) buckled wheel. Would definitely buy another (multi this time!)

My car

Owned from new, 57 plate A6 SE 2.0 TDi Avant Multitronic, my second A6 and 7th Audi so far. Great car to drive, the new audio system is a little hard to operate I find as the dial seems to work the wrong way around. Supersmooth gear changes with the 7-speed Multitronic Auto box, but very disappointed with the fuel consumption. Barely manage to get 30MPG from new.... A far cry form the 45 MPG avg that's in all documentation. Previous A6 2.5 TDi Quattro Auto (52-plate)returned 36MPG every day, all day with loads more power. Nicer to drive too, excellent for overtaking etc. Maybe I'm not cut out for the 4 cylinder engines anymore. Audi tells me fuel consumption will get better over time.... But 50% - i doubt it!
