I have had mine for 3 years. It now has 130000 miles on the clock and just keeps going. I tow a caravan with it and it doesn't know it is there...
Repairs have been limited to wear items, (front tyres wear quickly) and the hazard switch / indicator controller broke, (£15 for a new one.) I do service it myself, so cannot comment on service costs, but parts are reasonable.
It still drives like new, the cabin is spotless, no seat sag or leather split, and the bodywork is immaculate. Bought it for £8000. 3 years and 50000 miles later, been offered £5000. Excellent!
Three times now I have been tempted to buy a new car, but each time I get back into my car after a test drive, I think Why?
I bought a 2.5TDi with Tiptronic 6 speed gearbox, with full Audi Service history believing Audi's were reliable and well built cars. The gearbox started juddering (common fault - check out the VW/Audi forums) and despite taking the car to Audi they misdiagnosed the problem. I was told these gearboxes are very reliable and solid ,not the case !!! My gearbox has failed completely and costs £3,800 for new unit. My advice stay clear off the auto gearboxes, they have flaws in them...and subject to failure which can be very costly.
Audi are trying to cover up the issue with these gearboxes in the UK, so unless you want to play Russian Roulette and take a BIG risk I would steer well away.
Personally I am never going to go near an AUDI again.
Shocking reliability lets this car down, it is nice to drive when all systems are working. Sadly this is seldom the case. On third gearbox, 80000 miles. Cambelt went before 1st scheduled change at 60k. Electric window servo failed on long journey, wet kids in the back. Suspension at front required 3 trips to main dealer. Other niggles besides. Finally had the sense to get rid of it.
Bought this car not nowing that audi have a big problem with there cvt gearboxes , aparently in america they are recalling them and fixing the problem. but in the UK as with my car with full audi history and only 60k they do not want to know, cost to rectify can be up to 3/4 thousand pounds. what a shame as the car is so economical and the perfomance is like a sports car, also a lot of squeeks and rattles from interior not what you would expect from a quality brand. I will never buy Audi again....
