Bought from Audi dealer @ 5000 miles. Issues:- rear light clusters replaced twice, wiring loom for park assist hand brake replaced, ECU for Sat nav replaced, coolant resevoir replaced, body work damage (not told of) redone as faulty, glow plug replaced. ot a good quality experience. Repairs done and service good. I asked to px car as lost confidence. Dealer offered 14k, yet when I went to ford dealer for px was offered £1500 more from same audi dealer!!! sad to say Audi will not be replacemnt car ever. Poor quality and dealer treatment not good
Just took delivery of my 2.0TDI SE last week. Very pleased so far,had concerns that the 2.0 diesel would be overwhelmed in he big A6, but it still pulls like a train and has been regularly returning 45+ mpg despite still being tight. Cabin quality is typically Audi, absolutely faultless and the MMI for he sat nav and blue tooth phone is much easier to use than it first looks. Only problem so far is with ipod connection. See What Car have a feature this week on ipod ready cars. I paid £200 for optional AMI interface. However, so far it has proved impossible to get hold of the connection cable. So far 6 dealers have said it is on back order with no idea when one will be available. Also this 6inch long bit of wire with a plastic plug on each end costs £30! Why isnt it supplied with the car? After all without it the much vaunted AMI is effectively useless!
My A6 is a 2008 model le Mans editions with the 19" wheels in which I have already covered 3000 miles. Curiously having tested a 2007 model on the smaller wheels and I found the ride firm and crashy over bumps. However this car with the larger wheels is,much better, still firm but acceptable! Perhaps Audi have introduced some improvements for 2008 but the result is a very fine drive indeed. The 2.7TDi engine is very smooth and has enough power and I'm getting 36+mpg overall. It is also very quiet when cruising with little wind noise although on some surfaces there is some tyre noise. Overall excellent so far- have Audi made changes to respond to some of the criticsm of the ride and wind noise or maybe I've been lucky with this car?
The Biggest Gripe with this car is the Bluetooth phone system that decides to disconnect the phone from the car at will. You dont expect something as basic as bluetooth to cause an issue but when it does, it is a serious one because it makes you illegal if you pick up the phone to see what is going wrong. Dealer says car needs whole new phone system, but the replacement car they gave me does exactly the same thing. My last car was an 06 plate BMW 5 series, so i expected at least the same level of reliability. Two days into owning me new A6 2.7 TDi it would appear I was wrong. All else is fine but the fault in the car causes you to break the law and as such the car will be sent back if not fixed permanently.
