Having owned a 1989 Turbo R, 1997 RR Silver Spur & 2000 Seraph before my current 2001 Le Mans Series Red Label, it's obvious that quality & drivability of the cars has improved enormously. The Arnage is incredible! Bentley made great efforts to develop it from the 1998 Green Label model. It outshines even the Seraph though perhaps this is understandable. The car is huge but looks beautiful from any angle in a masculine way. It's not delicate or subtle, but the lines are clean. Even though it is similar to the Seraph, people adore its looks whereas the Seraph was simply interesting to others as a Rolls Royce but not especially due to the way it looked. It no doubt helps that the Le Mans Series has lovely touches like quad-exhausts, special wheels, fluted grills behind the front arches & a special gear selector, inlaid woodwork & green dials inside. The car is a joy to drive & be driven in. You can feel the enormous surge of power at all speeds. It is effortless! Selecting 'Sport' mode simply makes it perform more rocket-like to those outside though inside you barely notice the change. There is loads of room in the back with large footwells & a tall roof. The adjustable rear seats are supremely comfortable. The car is wonderfully enjoyable whether out alone or with passengers. The ride is silky smooth & the cabin noise very quiet. You can waft along or enjoy driving in supreme comfort. Delays become an excuse to savour a rich interior like nothing else save its former siblin
For a while now I have been looking to trade out of my (2008) 911 Carerra S, but had been unable to find anything that was just right. The new Jag XJ (not a patch on the previous model), the Jag XK (doesn't drive like a sports coupe), the Porsche Panemara (too much like the 911 and it looks like the mutant offspring of an Austin Maxi and a 911), all failed to impress.
Then I took a 3 year old Arnage-T out for a test drive.
This is, quite simply, brilliant, an Arnage-T, with the Mulliner 2 spec.
The car handles very well, it feels a lot bigger than it is, so once you get used to that it’s very manageable.
Comfort is superb, a sumptuous interior, all black leather, chrome, deep carpets and acres of glossy piano black trim. The stereo is good, despite having no iPod connection, the bluetooth system is excellent as is the climate control system. Ride quality is a revelation, with minimal road or engine noise, unless you are a little too eager with the pedal, then you hear a lovely V8 growl. Some of the equipment does seem a little archaic when compared to the kit in my Gen2 911, but, lets be honest, you don't buy one of these for technology, after all, you don't expect to walk into a stately home and expect to find an Imax Cinema.
The car feels so solid, so well built it makes me smile every time I turn the key and press the engine start button, as a young child I read a lot of Ian Fleming books, and Bond's personal transport was always a Bentley, now I know why.
I am a Chauffeur. This car is a dream. So easy to pull away and accelerate smoothly and seamlessly. The Flying Spur is better value for money, but the size of the Arnage adds that bit extra.
This car is brilliant for the money. It is the best car I have ever owned, and the performance is unique: 0-60mph in 5.5secs and 175 mph top speed, and it weighs close to 2.5 tonnes
I brought the car for £185,000 and it was worth every penny. Buy one even if it makes you bankrupt - just buy one, you won't be disappointed.
