Was looking for an A4 or 320d estate but chose an 03 plate Beemer with full history and 83k on the clock complete with a receipt for a replacement turbo and complete exhaust system! Its refined and well built had my garage carry out a service and gave it the all clear although the oil cost £76 (Castrol Edge). Performance and mid range punch is excellent although I find the steering somewhat light! Worthwhile features are the auto dip mirror and rear parking sensors I think it looks great and is a joy to drive find a good independent for servicing, main dealer costs are ludicrous, so far so good.
A great car for 4, enjoyable to drive. Bought this 2003 car at 16,000 miles in 2006, now 34,000 miles in Jan 09 - and not a thing has gone wrong with it. Brake pads have needed to be changed twice, partly because we live in London and it's a heavy car. My only criticism is the expense of a BMW service, over 500 pounds for less than 30 minutes work including a change of windscreen wipers. They tried to persuade me to spend 300+ on new brake pads, when the local garage does it for 80. Lovely car, and will be a shame to lose it when the next child turns up. It's a squeeze with 2 young kids, cot, bags, etc, and looks impossible with 3. But I've loved these three years.
I managed to get 86,000 miles out of mine before the turbo blew. £2000 pounds it was back on the road. Apart from that I find the running costs higher than expected and quite a few nigley problems , the dealers a bit stand offish. So over all a disapointing ownership experience.
80,000 miles turbo blew , told not uncommon to happen at this milage ,disappointed bought car for reliability ! .Cost £3816.65 ! to repair ,if knew this would have put money to newer car with waranty . car 5 years old . good car to drive . will look at audi for next car
