I have had this car for about 4 months now and its really very good in most aspects. I've been getting 45mpg (combined) and on the motorway I'm sure it is significantly more than that. The ride quality is exceptional and it has that expensive car feel. I got it from Stratstone Chesterfield coz my experience in Sheffield was less than ideal. I have, however, had some problems. The first issue was with the iDrive system ... it worked perfectly but the screen just stopped working one day. It had to be replaced along with the iDrive control unit, no problems since. The second issue was with the clutch as it started squeaking which was really annoying coz the cabin is really quiet. BMW tried using some lube but that didnt work so they had to change the piston on the clutch assembly. its been OK since. Annoying though!
I have now had this car for 2 1/2 years and 46k miles and am hugely impressed. The performance, handling and overall quality of the car are second to none.
I have had none of the issues mentioned in other reviews, find the i-drive very easy to use, the bluetooth picks up all of my devices and works perfectly.
I have no issues with the ride quality, and my wife (who complained continuously about the ride in my previous cooper s) loves it.
The dealer experience has also been great. Originally looked at Jaguar (dealer too busy smoking to talk to me), Audi (no one available to discuss a6) and Mercedes (could the dealer have looked down his nose at me any more?). The BMW guy happily arranged test drives, dealt with my haggling over price and options well (got the monthly cost down over 15% from the first quote) and the hand over was spot on. Ongoing servicing easy and very cheap (compared to the mini!)
The best thing though is the engine. Between 50 and something you can play with pretty much anything and the look on their face when they realise they've been had by a diesel is priceless!
I deliberated for 3 months before I I finally chose this vehicle. I wanted a car which would convey me on long distances in comfort with reasonable running costs. I read all the reviews and must say I can now see why the majority were all positive. Luxury combined with economy and a unbeatable fit and finish.I am sure that I will not be into much of a hurry to leave the BMW stable.
I picked up my 57 plate 525D M Sport, 2 months ago to replace my Touareg 3.0V6 TDI which was becoming incredibly expensive with the recent diesel price hike. I went for this car purely because the fuel consumption figures combined with the performance seemed to be the best in it's class, comparing it to the E-Class, A6 & XF. I have owned an Audi & Merc previously so was keen to find out how the BMW would compare. I have not been disappointed. It is by far the most enjoyable 'drivers' car I have had, I really enjoy driving it and there was ample room for me, the wife and 2 kids to go on holiday in. Oh, and the fuel consumption is around the 35MPG mark on average which is reasonable for someone who does not drive to gain the optimum consumption rates at all times! I would also like to add that I read quite a few negative comments about the run-flat tyres before picking the car up. For me, this has not been an issue at all and they feel great married to the M Sport package. A highly recommended car.

I've had 6 VWs now including this one and it is a mixed bag. In no particular order the economy is poor despite the FSI badging and in town never…
Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
