The car is so complete, with an absolutely amazing engine, best autobox I've tried, and excellent ride and handling. The equipment level is just about as much as anyone could wish for.
I've covered 100k miles in 6 years, and have enjoyed almost every one. I've even enjoyed sitting in the back seat (once).
On the downside, the car costs an arm and a leg to run. My fuel consumption around town is 16mpg, falling to 27mpg on long runs. I found the dealer servicing to be horrific. My experience of the BMW dealer included a seeming inability to fix certain simple problems and labour rates to make one's eyes water.
Problems with the car centre mostly on electrics - light bulb fittings, heater controls, radio/CD, dashboard displays. All niggling, but expensive to fix.
In short, I love the car, dodgy electrics apart, but hate the dealer.
Buy one - it is brilliant, but have it serviced privately.
BOUGHT ANOTHER USED COPY - PREVIOUS ONE STOLEN - BEST SEDAN IN THE WORLD FOR THE MONEY.
THE 2000 SPORT WITH FRESH FACTORY MOTOR MAINTENANCE & GAS A TAD HEAVY BUT THEN SO IS GOOD WHISKEY. THE TRANSMISSION IS WORLDCLASS SO IS HANDLING AND BRAKING. THE BUFFALO LEATHER HIDES DO REQUIRE SOME MAINTENANCE - I HAD THE FRONTS RE-DYED - BUT MAYBE SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE TAN IN COLOR, WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN TOUGH TO UPHOLD.
ENJOY!!
