On the road, the Lacetti is very quiet, and handled very well. The 1.6 SX is very resposive; in fact it is better than the 1.8 CDX. The driving positon is good but I would like to be able to adjust the steering wheel.
The level of equipment is good. The version I drove had a cassette player instead of a CD player, but this is a small detail. There is plenty of of legroom front and back. With the driver's seat in my normal driving position, I had plenty of legroom in the back.
I found the engine to be very quiet and the gear change is very smooth. The brakes are very responsive, and for long motorway drives there is a foot rest for your cluch foot, which I think is a nice touch.
I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a family-size saloon.
The dealer was very good - nothing was too much trouble, the coffee was free flowing, and they had the answers to every question I asked.
