    My car

I purchased a 2.0 Limited Edition Auto in 2002 and it was 12 months old. Basically I liked the retro look and colour (red). Unfortunately where I live there is no Chrysler Dealership.

After 34,000 miles the gearbox failed and Chrysler (Europe) had no sympathy whatsoever - so I had to pay 5,000 Euros (£3,200) to replace the unit.

For these reasons alone I would never buy a Chrysler again. It does seem unfortunate that Chrysler don't have a more helpful attituds with there customers.

Having since read message boards relating to this vehicle it does seem that the gearbox problem is fairly common - anyway one learns from ones mistakes!

    My car

I found my PT Cruiser on eBay last January. I have loved the retro style of the PT since the day I first saw one back in 2000.

I live in Colchester and used to work in Chelmsford, so it was very convenient for me to take my car along to the Chrysler dealership there. In June of this year, my job moved to Colchester and there is no dealership here now. I was contacted by them as my car was due for a service and was very pleased to find out that they are happy to collect my car from home or work in the morning and would deliver it back the same day. It took me awhile to get used to driving my PT, as it felt very different from my other cars, being higher off of the road than I am used to. Cruiser is a good name, as that is what they do best, but having said that it does pick up pace when needed. I found it heavy on petrol compared to my other cars, but it's worth every penny as I love driving it.

We had a lot of flooding here last summer and I remember twice having to drive home in appalling conditions, but it held the road well and made no fuss of the flooded roads. So here's to many more years with my PT.

    My car

A very comfortable and robust car with only two minuses: a poor turning circle, and rearward visibility is not very good.

I have had the car for two and a half years and have had no reliability problems. Fuel economy is nearly 50mpg if driven sensibly.

The car has pleanty of power in reserve if needed, the diesel engine is very flexible; it can accelerate away in third from roundabouts with no effort.

The ride is a little bouncy on rough country roads but it sits at 80-85mph very quietly and is comforable and stable.

I have a 90-year-old mother, who also loves the car because the access is so easy being so tall.

Overall, it's a well built, comfortable, reliable car.

One other problem: my grandchildren think it is a very "weird-looking" car and ask me why I did not get a "normal car" like a Peugeot. My answer was: "I love it, looks and all."

    My car

I really enjoy driving this car, and find it very comfortable indeed. It handles well and the engine is flexible. The only downside is the gearbox, which seems to be quite clunky.
