I have owned my 03 CRD from new, covering 12K per annum taking it to Spain twice a year.
I can go from Coventry to Barcalona via Le Havre on two tanks of diesel.
There has been a problem with the front wishbone bushes that seem to only have a life of 10K miles but they have always been replaced under warranty.
A problem that cannot be resolved is if you have a flat with a full compliment of passengers and luggag. The alloy won't fit in the wheel carrier so what does one do? Customer services can't offer a solution.
I have a 55-reg PT Cruiser 2.2 diesel CRD and I have to say it is the worst car I have owned.
It has been in for repair on average every other month and is back in again now. The vehicle suffers from an electrical problem where the engine management warning lights and speedo rev counter go bananas!
I am not impressed with the service recieved from Chrysler in solving the problem and would sell it today if I could.
However, that said, I love the look, style, interior, handling and overall drivability of the car (when it works).
I have loved these cars since first setting eyes on them may years ago and finally I can afford one !! - Only picked it up on Saturday so early days but so far absolutely fantastic. Kids love it and we have been out posing all weekend !! Only time will tell if its as good as it looks!!
I purchased a 2002 Pt Cruiser Limited CRD 3 weeks ago and it's probably one of the worst car's I have ever had.
Pros- Handles well in wet, nice and comfy heated leather & GREAT MPG
Cons- Looks like a London taxi, riddled with electric faults, ( The car cuts out constantly and the engine management light comes on) and I have just found out one I bought is a CAT D write off so off to get my 5 series BMW back. I also noticed some rust on the sills and under the bonnet...
Other than the faults it has been a good car for me the 3 weeks I've had it. It's fast, handles well and is very economical just a shame the interior isn't as wacky as the outside.

Bought a 2003 model 2.0 HDi diesel second hand in 2004 and still running it in 2012. 11,000 miles at purchase is now 113,000. Never broken down, but…
