Never have I been so glad to get rid of a car as I was with the Saxo.
It was noisy and uncomfortable - I could go on with a long list of negatives for the Saxo. I have just bought a Proton Savvy, the best buy I have ever made.
I can recommend to anyone wanting to buy a small car for a decent price - buy a Proton Savvy.
I've owned my 1996 P-registered Saxo for almost a year. Being a Citroen man and having owned AXs, I have to say the Saxo is a big step forward.
It's been exceptionally reliable (touch wood) and is an entertaining drive, though being nearly 6ft tall, my right leg hurts on a long journey.
That said, it's excellent and for a 1.1, it's suprisingly quick and has enough power.
It's no DS or CX, but it is great and underated. I'd recommend it, and it's much better than a Ford Fiesta.
I have a V reg 1.4i Saxo WestCoast limited,it comes with cd player, sunroof, electric windows, power steering and alloy wheels. the car handles well, I have had this car two years & I have only had to change the brake cable & clutch cable, You dont have to put your foot down to pick up speed as it is fast, its faster than a Ford Escourt on the motorway. it looks nice & sporty as its a Saxo VTR bodykit, but its a bit tight inside as Im 5`7. This car is well worth the money & the insurance is cheap.
I drove my brother's V-registered 2000 Saxo 1.4i SX Auto five-door in Poseidon Blue, and it was a very nice car to drive.
My brother, however, had to have the auto gearbox replaced when the Saxo was two years old, because oil had leaked into the gearbox.
