    My car

This is my third Xantia and cannot recommend them highly enough. My latest one a xantia 2.0 VSX auto comes with a lovely leather interior and adjustable sports suspension. I have had the spheres replaced and apart from that apart from servicing nothing has been needed. Being 2.0 automatic it's not the most economic but I love these cars

    My car

My wife and I bought a 1997 Xantia TD SX 1.9 in 2007 as a dealer trade in for £750. The car already had a full service history but what clinched it was the 4 new tyres and new full exhaust and new clutch cable put on by the last owner just before it was swapped in. So far I've had to replace 4 new spheres which went hard in may 2008, front and rear brake pads and normal oil and filters including the special LHM fluid. I would recommend Xantias but only if they have been previously looked after with service history and/or you have mechanical knowledge and the patience to work on them. I'm a trained mechanic and have previously owned and worked on Xantias and the bigger and better XM (my opinion) but I am still impressed with the ride quality - economy so long as you don't cain it all the time - and looks. My advice - keep on top of oil changes to protect the turbo and replace the coolant once a year because the cylinder heads on XU diesels don't tolerate corrosion and will make the head gasket fail as will overheating etc. Make sure the LHM fluid is a nice emerald green colour you should be able to read news print held behind a sample. If it's cloudy or brown change it and clean out the system with hydraflush.

    My car

Its my second one after a 1.9SX. First one was brilliant until I wrote it off1. The second one's main problem has been faulty insulation/corrosion of wiring, resulting in 2 costly breakdowns, one at Manchester Airport. However, its very comfortable, well equipped and does 50 mpg, even after 150,000 miles. The ride is superb, and its very spacious. Looks don't date and it still stands out in a car park! I've had 2 and would by another!!

    My car

This is our 2nd Xantia. We had an L-reg when we lived in the UK and now have a 1996 2.0 SX back in Australia. She has covered 252000klm without major issue. Suspension spheres were replaced in 2004 and the pump in 2004. Normal servicing only. Our last trip she averaged 38.2 mpg for the 336 klm and only took 24.5 ltrs. Not may 12 year old cars with highish mileage will do that.

My only regret is that we didn't try and find an estate and that I can't buy one new
