I have owned this car since 2009 with 17 miles on the clock, after wanting once since they were launched (and owning Cinquecentos and Seicentos) I absolutely love the car, and find it good to drive on both motorways and around time, although some of the other comments about it getting a bit jittery on rough roads are true, this may be due to the optional 16" wheels on mine.
The parts I have been disappointed by is the fuel economy isn't quite as much as I expected, but still averaging around 40 mpg on a mix of town and country road driving where I live.
The biggest disappointment has been recently, as the car approached 2 years old, and despite being cared for throughout my ownership, I found the front brakes suddenly stopped working, with none of the brake fade or warning light you would normally experience. This lead to not only replacement pads but also discs too. I have also found the tracking needs checked regularly, and have had to replace the steering arm / track rod end, after raising this with Fiat and finding they delayed giving any advice until the warranty had expired. (Be aware that Fiat's warranty is a 2 year warranty, with the remaining year being a limited dealer warranty)
The customer service offered by Fiat UK has been absolutely shocking, and as a result I have now lost confidence in my much loved car and Fiat as a whole, and I am sad that after many years loyalty, I will not own another Fiat as a result.
I love my Fiat 500 1.2 Pop from the moment I drove off in it. Great fun to drive on the motorway and in town for parking into slots others can not! Downside is the plastic fuel tank as thieves target them and my Fiat is currently off the road waiting for a replacement tank. Two quickly drilled holes and off with the petrol in a can.
I had the pleasure of driving one of these quirky yet funky cars when, my own car was being serviced.
I had always wanted to drive one, and overall i found the look to be 10 out of 10, and drive 7/8 out of 10, im a experienced lady driver for many years, and love driving and i liked the feel and look of the car and interior. I do like to be quite high up on the driving position so can have better visibility and found that in local driving speeds that i could see the speedometer, however when driving on the M1 motorway i couldnt! see the higher speeds from about 40mph + as the thick steering wheel was in the way and the speedometer was completely out of sight and i had to get my husband to tell me what speed i was doing, so not so safe!!! i know you can adjust the height of the seat but as im not too tall bout 5ft 3" i wouldnt have been comfortable or felt safe to drive it as i wasnt my car. so overall the car looks great but was low-mid powered but did manage up to the standard motorway speed of 70mph without problem smooth ride only bit noise hardly notciable. But even though i love the exterior and interior of this car, i would only recommend city driving only, not really made for motorways. so not sure if i would buy one
I'm instrested in buying the new fiat 500 1.2 Pop. Fiat say that the mpg for the 1.2 Pop is 44.1 on urban. Have you managed to get 44.1 mpg on urban or possibly more?
I have owned this car for a year now and have…
