Mine is a 1997 20-valve non-turbo. I've had it for the past seven years and they have been very pleasurable ones.
The handling of this car is unbelievable - the road holding is a dream in dry condition, but be wary in the wet.
Its five-cylinder engine is a jewel! I got mine when it had 28,000 miles and paid £7000 - what a bargain! It still turns heads and leaves many a boy racer and their pumped-up ego reading my plates.
Get one if you can, it will be a classic.
When I first drove this car I couldn't believe a FWD could accelerate like this without wheelspin. In third, with the revs at about 2,500, it is phenomenal. I have owned the car for a full year now, and it has been absolutely excellent. Irritating rattles in the cabin, and a rather hard ride on bumpy town roads, are the main complaints. More than made up for by the positives. Comfortable, fast, enjoyable car.
