What Car? says

2 out of 5 stars

For The Stilo is cheap to buy and very practical, with excellent diesel engines

Against The petrol engines aren't great, the dashboard layout is fussy, and the car's only average to drive

Verdict It's a great, practical estate, with the emphasis on value for money

Go for… Any diesel

Avoid… 1.6 petrol

Fiat Stilo Multiwagon
  • 1. On higher-spec models, the window glass opens separately to the tailgate, which is a useful feature
  • 2. The boot floor is very low, which is excellent for getting luggage in and out
  • 3. Check for premature tyre wear, as this can be a sign of suspension problems
  • 4. A recall affected the side airbags, so find out if any potential buy was affected and, if so, whether the sensor was replaced
  • 5. The driving position is good, and there's plenty of room for passengers
