Have had the Econetic since July 2010 - got a great deal through Ford Direct on a 59 plate with 2k on the clock but almost £5k cheaper than brand new. Honestly have to say it's been superb. I've not previously owned a diesel but I've been really impressed by the grunt it provides for motorway cruising and is very gutsy when pulling away or going uphill - even though it's meant to be an "Eco" car. What impresses me most is though is the car feels both bigger and more stable than a small car should do but also feels very well made - having had a look at the Seat Ibiza and Vauxhall Corsa beforehand, it definitely feels a cut above. My only minor criticisms are that the gearing (as it's set up to be as Eco friendly as possible) has very long ratios meaning you often have to change down earlier than you'd expect to keep going - caught me out a few times at first. Also, unless you only drove it on the motorway at 50mph the whole time - I can't see how you can possibly average the published 75mpg figures - I've at worst averaged around 55mpg (with a lot of city driving) and at best about 65mpg (mostly motorway/A Road driving just below the speed limit). So still impressive and if throw in the free Road Tax, you will still save a fair bit on the running costs. Generally though, really happy with the purchase.
