    My car

It is now late June 2005; I have owned my Fusion 1.4 Petrol semi-auto for nearly a year and a half and covered 18,000 miles.

The best thing about this car is its interior space, for a Fiesta-sized car it has Focus space inside it.

Thoroughly modern with very comfortable seats it starts first time every time and is an easy car to live with.

Purchased in preference to a Focus because of the lower boot entry height, the tall square boot area is very practical and accommodates my black Labrador and golden retriever.

It has 3-point belts on all 3-rear seats, which is great for the school run. It has a clutch-less 5-speed gearbox, which is very smooth and returns 38mpg. I am 6'3" tall and can fit comfortably in any of the seats without headroom or legroom issues.

It is a very versatile little car, daily ferrying me (6'3") and four secondary school children (two are 6') with their bags on the school run. At Christmas it was used to collect and dispose of the tree, split fold rear seats and a folding front passenger seat made space.

Costs: One warranty claim to replace a faulty rear centre seat belt.

The first (only) 12 month 13,000 mile service cost £140.

New front tyres needed at 18,000 miles.

    Noise:

The engine is quiet and willing and barely noticeable at legal speeds, wind noise is very low

Tyre roar from the standard Continentals is noticeable at speed

Overall a very good workhorse with far more road presence than a Fiesta.

    My car

I LOVE IT. IT'S GREAT FUN. TRENDY TO LOOK AT AND A DODDLE TO DRIVE. I LOVE THE HIGH SEATING AND AND THE VISIBILITY IS BRILLIANT.

BEING SHORT, IT'S MADE FOR ME. IT'S SLOW TO GET MOVING BUT ONCE GOING IT'S NIPPY ENOUGH. THERE'S LOTS OF SPACE INSIDE AND A HUGE BOOT.

ALL THE CONTROLS ARE WITHIN EASY REACH AND IT HAS THE FEEL OF A 4X4 INSIDE. OVERALL, IT'S A GREAT CAR FOR THE PRICE. ALSO ON THE FUSION THERE ARE LOTS OF EXTRAS INCLUDED. BRILLANT.

    My car

Very pleased with all aspects of the car. The equipment spec is excellent. The driving position is high with great visibility, comfort and space. The handling is good with responsive steering. The diesel engine has good acceleration in lower gears. Overall very pleased with the Fusion.

    My car

Probably the worst car I have driven.

The interior feels flimsy, cheap plastic. The seats are small, hard and too high, and there is not enough room behind the wheel.

The steering is slow and uncommunicative. The engine is overworked, noisy and prone to stall.

The brakes are feeble - gave me no confidence at all, especially with that steering. The equipment is poor. The body is also lightweight and tinny.
