I wanted to downsize my company car from a 2.0 TDCi Mondeo Ghia, the Focus was still too big and the Fiesta too small so that left the Fusion. I went for the top of the range + with the 1.6 TDCi engine. I have done almost 7,00 miles including a sking trip to France with three teenages plus myself in the car. I got the car despite, or pehaps because of, Clarksons "box on wheels for old gits" review.
It handles better than the Mondeo around the narrow hilly roads in the Pennines where I live and it's a dream in town and for parking. So far it has averaged around 55 mpg around town, 65 and over out of town and even managed 60 on the trip to France fully loaded.
I will admit that above 65 on the French toll roads the Mondeo is a much superior ride but on the 360 days of the year that I am not driving on French toll roads and the 1 day of the year it is possible to get above 65 on a British motorway, the Fusion ticks all the boxes I want and does exactly what it says on the tin.
I do like the FORD FUSION + - it came with a built in dvd player which has kept my son quiet on trips to wales!! I have found now that we have a problem with an EOC fail error which we cant seem to identify or repair. I have just spent 150pounds having a new air filter motor fitted but that hasnt helped. i would have another one though because its spacious and good on diesel.
any comments re the eoc fail fault would be welcome. debs
Car is 06 reg & now done 21000 miles. The only 2 problems have been a bit of dodgy trim lower dash & tailgate adjustment, both covered by warranty. Running costs are excellent, dealer service not so.
I have just purchased my second Ford Fusion. That statement should speak for itself. I now have a 1.4 Zetec Climate 5dr Petrol. I AM HAPPY. Smashing little Car with loads of Room.
