This is a great car to own - seats 7 in comfort, has a very big boot and superb at anything we throw at it. It copes fine when we go camping on holiday with a full boot and a roofbox for 2 weeks.
Fuel economy is about 42mpg overall.
It has done 130,000 trouble free miles in 6 years.
The electrics have been fine - wiper linkage packed up after 5 years(cost £250.00) and we had a flat battery after 3 years.
Overall, a great car!!!!!!!
Owned the car for 2 years, this being our first Galaxy. 1.9 Ghia 115bhp. Vrey impressed with no problems at all, it now about to receive its first MOT.
Tyres have not been a problem, the front having just been changed at 20,000. Surprised at others views, as local tyre dealer supplied and fitted reinforced for £110 the pair.
Service at main ford dealer just cost me £135 for 3rd year service, not bad I thought. Asked for discount, they gave it.
Fuel econony is superb - 500 easy to the tank. Only critisism - air con / climate control is poor on hot days. Wifes Scenic far far superior.
Would I change, definately, for another one. If anyone knows for a 130bhp Ghia, about 1 year old with Leather, please e-mail me at email@example.com
We've had our current car 3.5 years and it's been great.
We are a family of 2 adults and four younger kids and the car is ideal for family tranportation.
Recently it took us effortlessly to Brittany and back with local driving while we were there. With the addition of a roof box there is enough room to take our full holiday kit including a double pushchair.
Negatives? It seems to use a lot ot tyres and they are expensive. We pay around £100 per tyre for the proper Dunlop reinforced ones. The climate control could do with more oomph for really hot days (the car is effectively a moving greenhouse). Apart from that no problems at all over and above normal wear and tear.
Servicing is done at a local independent Ford specialist (ex dealer) and is reasonable considering.
Mpg is around 25 which to be honest isn't that bad considering we usually transport 5 or 6 people around. We only do 5-6000 miles a year so it's not a big factor for us.
Driving is comfortable. Not sporty and not too spongy. bearing in mind the weight and size there's no qualms in that department.
I think a lot of people when reviewing the Galaxy forget what the car is. It's a large family car and not a sporty, frugel, babe magnet.
Would I buy another? yes I would and the new model looks very enticing.
An extremely annoying car
