Took delivery of the car, eptember 05/not a single problem yet.
The zetec is the best option of the range in my view as it comes with all the things you need, (ie) heated front screen, parking sensors.
It is now six months old , and as i have said no problems (not even electrical ones) i am hoping it stays that way.
the fuel economy is superb, which is soley down to that superb 1.9 turbo diesel engine which just cruises along the motorway, (when clear).
This is my second galaxy, my last one i had for six years and it was fault free as well.
maybe i am just lucky.....
My Galaxy 130 Ghia is now 15 months old. It's a company car and has already covered 55,000 fault-free miles, so it's interesting to see the problems others say they have had.
Have I got the only well-built one, or do only the unlucky ones write in? For me, the quality is great, the DVD/Satellite-navigation system is awesome, and my four kids love it. I had four captain chairs fitted as a free option, and the armrests guarantee argument-free holidays!
My local main dealer is great - he should be, I guess, because he's doing a full service every three months. Front tyre wear is heavy - I'm just about to have the third set fitted.
Overall, if you have a big family there's none better and the car's image isn't too bad, since this is a facelift version with chrome grill and so on, which contrasts well with its black paint (despite my paranoia that I look like a minicab!). I think I'll try the SAV next time, however, because it promises to be a bit sportier.
I have a 2002 1.9 TDI 115 Zetec, which I have owned for 12 months.
There are a lot of things I like about this car, such as the excellent driving position, the fact that it drives like a saloon, the massive cabin space (even with seven people on board), the fantastic load space with the two rearmost seats removed.
I even like the look of it compared with the ugly deformed Scenics etc but unfortunately the whole package has been let down by electrical problems.
In the 12 months I have owned the Galaxy, it has had air-con failure, central locking failure, electric windows failure, throttle response failure.
This car would receive five stars if it were not for the electrical faults.
I bought my Galaxy 2.8 Ghia about 3 years ago when it was 1 year old. It came fully equiped with all the extra's like full leather, navi, xenon etc.
And in the 3 years we haven't had any problem with the car, really, apart from a low battery recently, but that I find ok after 4 years. We are realy happy with it, drives smooth and doesn't feel big at all. Enough space for the 5 of us and if you don't have the 2 back seats in like we do when we go on holiday or away for the weekend, we can put in as much as we want and it seems it never gets full.
It does use a lot of petrol so I am now considering a diesel to replace mine. Downside is that we find it a bit boring car in terms of design.
Interesting to read all the technical problems others seem to have with it, we must have been lukcy then or at least Ford seems to have an issue with delivering constant quality.
