I BOUGHT THIS CAR END SEPT 2006. ITS THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED! IN THE 16 MTHS I'VE HAD IT,IT HAS SPENT 5 1/2 MONTHS IN THE GARAGE. IT HAS HAD A NEW TURBO, 3 NEW STEERING COLUMNS, FLAT BATTERY NO REASON,2 NEW WINDOW REGULATORS, NEW LAMINATE ROOF,NEW CLUTCH AND FLY WHEEL,NEW PIPE FOR STEERING COLUMN, RATTLE BEHIND DASH, BURNT OUT WIPER MOTOR. TO CROWN IT ALL MY CAR HAS BEEN DAMAGED ON 2 OCCASIONS WHILE AT THE GARAGE LA MOTTE,JERSEY WITH 2 BACK PANEL DENTS AND A LONG STRATCH. ITS ONLY DONE 6500 MILES! I'VE ASKED FOR AN EXCHANGE BUT LA MOTTE SAY I HAVE TO PAY £4500 TOWARDS A NEW ONE OR £2500 FOR AN EX FLEET WITHOUT A PANORAMIC ROOF - WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! DISGUSTING SERVICE AND VERY RUDE MD! VERY UPSET!
I replaced my Audi A4 Sport with this car as I needed more seats. I am afraid to say, I do not miss my Audi. This car has everything the Audi had and a lot more. It handles and accelerates like a dream. I have had this car for over 3 months and have driven it for almost 3000 miles. No problems encountered. The only unusual thing is that the trip computer has never given me an average of above 43mpg - regardless of the driving conditions. In town it usually gives 39mpg. I suspect that the economy derived from this car in real life is not as high as mentioned in the glossy brochures, but it is good enough for the size of the car and the engine.
I did lots of research prior to choosing this car. Amongst the 7 seater MPVs there is no rival! Remember, this car does not have a spare wheel, but a special puncture repair kit. This is true for a lot of new cars on the market, and it is not a major issue.
Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this car.
My main factor in choosing my latest car was the need to seat more than 5. The Galaxy was chosen mainly on reviews of it's handling, which has proven to be excellent. Last weekend I did a day trip from Darlington to Dundee and was astonished at the way in which the miles were covered in comfort with such ease. The route was mainly twisty A roads with 6 up, and it still managed 39MPG. Stability in torrential rain was amazing and roadholding excellent.
Flexibilty of seating is fantastic, comfort and space is great, I really cannot think of one negative point inside or out. The first frost of the year hit this morning, and guess what the Galaxy excelled here as well, the quickclear screen is fantastic.
I would also like to commend the Ford Dealership at Evans Halshaw in Darlington in providing and excellent buying experience. I hope the servicing department continues this level of service.
this car has been a joy to my life i have had 5 previous Galaxys, and loved all of them, but this is the best one.i had a 1497kg caravan and the 1.8 galaxy can tow it fine, scince iv had this galaxy iv towed my caravan up a 27% hill going around 48-53 MPH but on motor way's it can go 80-85 MPH it's a good towcar,iv been going 103 MPH befor towing this caravan going down a 5% hill it's OUTSTANDING
