I have expereinced this car, and found it to be an engaging drive. It does seem cheap in terms of fixtures and fittings. Has anybody here tried the Mitsubishi Grandis? I went for one of those instead and its great. The Petrol version I have is as thirsty as the S-max, but I have none of the problens of build quality or dealers/Customer service listed here. The design and features of both cars are very similar, though I admit the S-max has a sporty edge, especially from the rear 3/4 view.
I am a fan of the design of the S-max, but would not buy one based on the evidence given here. Thank you to all fellow reviewers.
I spot a theme running through the reviews: an excellent car let down by dreadful dealers and some low quality plastic trim. I have had the car for a month now and enjoyed driving it. The ride is comparable with my previous car (Volvo V70) that had the same engine without turbo charger - it makes all the difference.
HOWEVER, the car was delivered without any handbook or service documentation. I picked this up at delivery but was persuaded to accept the vehicle as the dealer would send it on immediately. More fool me. Still no handbook, or information when it will arrive. Dealer blames Ford UK. Ford UK blames the dealer. I have resorted to threatening letters quoting the Sale of Goods Act. Hassle I could do without that spoils an otherwise good vehicle.
