    My car

I apologise if this appears next to my previous writing, which curiously disappeared when I was half way through writing it?!! Having previously owned a Kia Sedona, which was a bus and a half to drive, performance wise and very costly to have repairs done to, we reverted to our beloved Fords (we have had many over the years and never seem to get on with any other make). It took us a long time to find something, didn't know about the S-Max before, and were pleasantly suprised to find such a versatile car (7 seats when needed, 5 and a huge boot when not) available to us. We were thrilled. It drives like a car, not a van, is comfortable, economical on the diesel and goes like the proverbial when needed. The boot seats are a little small, but as we have kids, they can sit in them fine for short to medium journeys, whilst the middle 3 seats are full seats with loads of leg room and doesn't feel claustrophobic like some cars. It also has rear windows that you can open, which, after the Kia is a novelty! Overall we are very pleased with our S-Max, however.... We have had this car since the week before Easter 2010 - on Easter Saturday the alternator went (i.e. dropped of it's housing) - it is under 3 years old, so this was fixed on warranty. We have now got the clutch on its way out (burning smell and slipping) which we are about to go and get sorted. My Dad's maxim of "never by a car under 3 years old" keeps springing to my mind, I do hope I'm wrong?!

    My car

Summary All in all this is a great car. It is designed for the family that has upto 3 kids and needs to transport all their rubbish around as well. When the kids aren’t in the car, it delivers as a fine driving machine as well. Quality is good, not quite as good as a BMW but MUCH better than I was expecting from a Ford. It’s economical; 45MPG for this size of car is amazing. It also has plenty of go, my 1.8TDCi isn’t slow but if you need more get the 2.0TDCi. I have no problem recommending this car.
