A great car to drive. I chose this car over the Volvo V70, which is much more costly for same spec.
The engine is very smooth and powerful. The electric tailgate and sat-nav are a delight to use.
Honda dealership excellent.
If only an R version?
I agree with everything in the What Car? test. Although the car is not cheap, I don't think the price is too high considering the quality. If it is as reliable as other Hondas then it must be worth it.
The trim is good but perhaps not quite as attractive materials as the best German cars. However everything is very solid and well put together.
The visibility is a bit limited and one has to be careful to look either side of the windscreen pillar when pulling out of a side road. Once you are used to it then it's not too much of a problem.
The load capacity is remarkable and as a keen windsurfer I carry a lot of equipment inside and on the roof. I paid for the extra roof-rails but I am not very impressed with those as they are set too far back on the roof. I would recommend a good roof-rack instead.
The engine is excellent and revs very smoothly. The performance is very good, especially in the mid-gears around 5,000 revs. The handling and road-holding are also excellent and even with a load on board it drives like a sports car.
I have had the car for 4 months now and am very pleased with the choice.
This is my first Honda, my first estate car and my first diesel.
The Accord is large, comfortable, extremely well laid out and equipped. It's proving to be extremely quiet, surprisingly responsive and a relative joy to drive.
Load space is simply massive, although rear legroom is severly limited if the driver is tall and has his seat pushed back to its max. The touch screen DVD Sat Nav is simplicity itself to operate, once you've had a brief play and the stereo and all other gadgets and gizmos work with typical Japanese efficiency.
Overall, it's a lovely car in all aspects and one I thoroughly enjoy using on a daily basis.
